The nuclear accident forced everyone in Iitate to evacuate and farmers in the village, one after another, closed down their livestock businesses that were the main industry of the village. That was a difficult decision at a time when it was hard for families to find places to evacuate to, let alone securing a place for the cattle. Against this background, some farmers looked for unused cowsheds, and have continued their business at places where they took refuge. It was these businesses that fought against harmful rumors and also showed appreciation to the communities that received them.

Now that their business and lifestyle have taken root in the communities, it would be difficult for them to decide to return to Iitate. If they don’t return to Iitate, they can’t contribute to the revival of Iitate beef. However, there is a farmer who established a new brand beef that still has a pedigree of Iitate beef. The name of the brand is different, but it undoubtedly inherits the pedigree of Iitate beef.

There are farmers who make efforts thinking about Iitate, whereas some farmers strive for the revival of Iitate beef in the village. They are all competitors and friends.

Here is something about their everyday life and thoughts.
